Prasanna Gunawardena’s architectural journey formally began in 1988, when he started his career as an architectural draftsman at Ranjan Nadesapillai Associates. Over the next five years, he honed his technical grounding and spatial discipline before moving on to work under Professor Lakshman Alwis at Design Consortium Limited (DCL). A further five years at DCL deepened his understanding of design thinking, professional practice, and architectural rigor.
In 1999, driven by a desire to work independently and guided by his instinctive design sensibility, Prasanna established his own studio in the garage of his father’s home in Baddegama. What began as a modest, self-founded practice has since evolved into a design philosophy shaped by over 35 years of experience, rooted in clarity, restraint, and a deep respect for spatial character.
We believe architecture is a timeless dialogue between space, character, and context. Our approach is grounded with precision, restraint, and quiet sophistication. We design spaces that feel lived in from day one, balancing form and function without distraction.
